An INSEAD Alumni

Campus Placement at INSEAD

During my admission, one of my interviewers had mentioned to me that he would have liked better Campus Placement team at INSEAD.

People who opt for the Wharton exchange, come back saying that INSEAD Profs, the courses and overall culture is better. But they like Wharton work on campus placement better than INSEAD.

Though it sounds negative in the above two sentences, let me bring to your notice some of the top people in businesses are from INSEAD. How did this happen? My guess is that alumni network did play a good role in this.

If you want a job in Europe it is better to spend the latter part of the course in the Fontainebleau campus and if you want to work in Asian markets, make sure you are in Singapore during the recruitment season. This is not an absolute must but it helps. Some of my batchmates who stayed on the INSEAD Fonty campus did get recruited by Samsung in Korea and are working there today.

Placement services will arrange for video conferences for interviews if you are on the other campus.

The link to the career website is the same for all the MBA participants irrespective of their geographical location of Fonty, Singapore or Wharton.

I wanted to work in Europe as an intern and managed to get a subject of my choice in June 2008 inspite of the economy crash.

To summarize, INSEAD campus placements are not by any means poor, but dont assume that jobs will come to you in silver plates. Testimony to the fact that INSEAD students do well is the fact that INSEAD is ranked among the top b schools and placement is one of the major criteria.

My advice: Focus your job hunt and go after it with all the help you can get from Career Services at INSEAD. They will help you starting from creating great professional resumes, mock interviews, case study booklets and networking at Placement events by various companies that come to recruit at INSEAD.
